Receiving

The majority of BookManager users take advantage of the convenient method of receiving electronically. This way is extremely accurate, fast and efficient, as it allows to receive an entire shipment in a few simple keystrokes. You can also of course receive manually if the supplier does not support electronic invoices. Consignments can also be managed through receiving.

BookManager's receiving module handles prices changes, calculates selling prices, performs currency conversion, records backorders, and allows on-the-spot reordering and changes to title information. Shortages, damages and other errors are marked and appropriate documentation is automatically generated.

Inventory levels are automatically adjusted. Special orders can be posted to the Point-of-Sale where they are held until they are ready be picked up or shipped. When the receiving invoice is balanced and finished, it is posted to the Accounts Payable and General Ledger module of BookManager. You can also tell exactly how much profit is to be made on each item and how freight impacts each shipment. Like most places in BookManager, a barcode scanner can be used to quickly locate specific titles.

Special indicators will notify when titles are still outstanding within the purchase order being received. This will allow the receiver to stay on top of backordered or delayed items - which can prove to be especially helpful when these are special orders for customers.

The last step in BookManager's receiving module is the "Exit Receiving Menu". This menu allows you to print lists, invoices, and special order labels/slips (which include the name and phone number of the customer, plus any special notes). Receiving also optionally generates our specially designed removable book labels that each contain a barcode, your company name, title, price, classification, and date codes. The classification information lets your staff know exactly where you want the books shelved, which ensure books are found easily when your customers request them. The labels also allow you to know all the receiving information about the book in one quick glance, which is helpful when doing returns. BookManager labels can be set up to print on thermal printers, or laser printers.

Our users are incredibly enthusiastic about this feature. We've even received fan mail about it!
